At Harvest for Humanity, we recognize the importance of a safe and nurturing home environment on the development of children. In the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, 1.2 million children found themselves without families or homes. Harvest for Humanity has secured and renovated a home just outside of Port Au Prince, which is now home to 20 children.
Through our children’s home Foyer d’Espoir, or Home of Hope, we strive to create the kind of environment that will inspire the children we care for to reach their potential. This facility offers children a nurturing, wholesome environment that encourages education and the development of life-skills.
Children growing up in this home attend the local school and benefit from in-house studies including English, music and the arts. Each child learns how to care for animals, tend the garden and orchard, which help us to create a self-sustaining source of fresh fruits and vegetables for them to eat.
It is our ultimate goal to empower the children raised in our home to live their lives to their full potential. We want them to create positive change for themselves and their community, making the world a better place one child at a time.
